Where the island hides.
Hydra is famous for its rocky platforms and crystalline waters. While the town spots are perfect for a quick dive, the hidden beaches offer absolute serenity.
Spilia & Hydronetta
Just a 5-minute walk from the port. Deep blue waters, rocky ledges to dive from, and breathtaking sunset views.
Vlychos & Plakes
A beautiful 30-45 minute coastal walk or a short taxi-boat ride. Organized pebble beaches with shallow, clear waters and traditional seaside tavernas.
Bisti & Agios Nikolaos
Secluded emerald bays on the southern side of the island. Reached via daily taxi-boats from the main harbor. Pine trees reaching all the way to the pebble shore.
Mandhraki
The island's only sandy beach, located in an old naval harbor east of the town. Quiet waters, ideal for a relaxing morning swim.
A living captain's museum.
The entire town of Hydra is a preserved national monument. Its grand 18th-century stone mansions (Archontika) testify to the island's glorious naval history, while today it blooms as an international art hub.
The Miaoulia Festival
Held every June, this spectacular festival honors Admiral Miaoulis. The harbor comes alive with historical reenactments, traditional dances, and a magnificent burning of a flagship boat with fireworks.
Historical Archives Museum
Located right at the harbor, it hosts a vast collection of maritime artifacts, ship models, weapons, and rare documents from the 1821 War of Independence.

Monastery of Profitis Ilias
A rewarding 90-minute hike upwards from the town. Built 500 meters above sea level, it offers a dramatic panoramic view of the entire Argosaronic Gulf.
Eros Mountain Hike
Continue past Profitis Ilias to the highest peak of the island (nearly 600m) for a majestic, uninterrupted look at the horizon.
The Coastal Path to Kamini
A flat, gentle 15-minute stroll wrapped around the headland. Stunning sea views and traditional stone houses all along the way.
Zouvra Monastery Route
